The founder of Block Financial Resources, Sean Bloch, graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2003 with a degree in Economics. Shortly after graduating, Sean quickly emerged as a top-producing mortgage broker in the Manhattan-area through a relentless work ethic and a customer-first approach. After four years of experience as a mortgage broker, mortgage banker, sales manager and processor, Sean created Block Financial Resources in March of 2008.
The financial crisis was at its peak and Sean saw an opportunity to step into a market when mortgage companies had lost the trust of the public. The company was built with the intention of providing low fees and rates, coupled with elite service. Sean started the company from a small walk-up apartment on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, and has seen the company grow exponentially every year it’s been in business.

Ava Sanel has been in the mortgage business since 1991. She has worked for banks, mortgage bankers, mortgage brokers and mortgage insurance companies as a Customer Service Representative, Loan Originator, Wholesale Account Manager, Processor and Underwriter. She has a knack for detail and likes to make sure that all documentation is reviewed thoroughly to avoid any unforeseen issues. Her experience in underwriting gives her a unique perspective that you won’t find at many mortgage brokerage firms. Knowing that not every deal is black and white, she is always looking to “make the deal work” even when the task appears difficult. She is quick to research and interpret guidelines in this ever changing environment and takes the time to learn what’s new in the industry.
